Poems & 49er Football – A Zazzle Employee Contest

January 30, 2012

What would you do to go to the NFC Championship Game? As many football fans know, the AWESOME 49ers recently played some team for NFC supremacy and ended up falling short in overtime. But, before the game, a different contest was taking place at Zazzle HQ. The contest was simple; write a poem about Zazzle and win two 50 yard line tickets to the NFC Championship Game. With stakes like those, the entries were sure to be amazing – and they were! See below for the amazingly creative poems by Zazzle employees (they only had one hour to write the poems).

Here at Zazzle, we aim to please
It’s in our best interest to put you at ease.
We want to delight and make it all right
So if you give us the chance
We will make sure you dance.
We are all about people and what they can do
That means you-you-you and YOU!
You can make anything your own
And in doing so, make this world a better home.
– John

A printer – birthed in a humble garage. Colors, inks, dreams. Rising.
A picture – pressing herself upon shirts. Seeking to be known. Rising.
A phoenix – morphing, bending, twisting. Ever expanding. Ever reborn. Rising.
A philosophy – reshaping the world. Opening eyes a new.  Rising.
Zazzle – you. Rising. Rising.

Zazzle Oh, My!

Write a poem about Zazzle? Who? Me?
How can I write a poem about something called that?
All I know is that Zazzle is like the new Meme Mania… if you are not “Liking” it or sharing it on your Facebook,  you are better off living in another planet.
Zazzle is fun, cool, creative and allows anyone to become an artist in their own right, even become famous or just a little richer.
Zazzle is the new “Black”, if you are not wearing it everywhere;  you are a square!

Who cares about those extra pounds that you’ve been trying to lose since last thanksgiving! Zazzle has something on your size and your dog’s too.
Even your phone can be dressed up! Any taste it may be: gangsta, nerdy , slutty… whatever! What matters is that even your grandma can Zazzle it up!
Have you Zazzled yet or are you going to MIA?”

There once was a dude named Bobby,
Who decided that t-shirts were more than a hobby.
He on-boarded Jeff,
And made Robert el hef,
Now ZAZZLE logos are all over our lobby.
– Demian

Z Z Z Zazzle me up! I need an outfit.
Bust out a cap with rainbow cow-print.
Give me a tie that looks like coleslaw, and a shirt that says “I ♥my Grandma!”
Zazzle me up a celebration and write it on an invitation to you…
That’s what I’m gonna do.
Z Z Z Zazzle it up….some red and blue states
We’re ‘bout have ourselves a debate.
I’ll make the buttons and the posters, but they’ll say “Politics are made for jokesters!”
Zazzle me up a proclamation and put it on an invitation to you
..and you can bring your crew.
I’m so sorry I forgot your birthday…here’s a custom postcard just to say…
That you’d look better with a silly mustache (and the matching skateboard deck is on the way)…heeeeyyyyyy!
Z Z Z Zazzle it up: a second income.
I want to make more bread and then some.
Printing all those crazy phrases made by Charlie Sheen after he blazes.
Zazzle me up a good old time, and it won’t even cost a dime, yes it’s true.
Just takes a minute or two…
Zazzle it up. Zazzle it up. Zazzle it up.
Zazzle, it’s all up to you.

1. There is a land in redwood city, see?
2. Its filled with magic, promise…also, glee.
3. What is that ugly thing among the trees?
4. Is that a…?  Yes, a ghetto Christmas tree.
5. With Zazzlers singing, dancing, smiles so bright,
6. It’s hard to watch and not log on the site.
7. The site was filled with gifts for her and him.
8. My gosh, I had no clue where to begin.
9. I looked until I saw some things so rad,
10. A zombie sweater, mug, and a mouse pad!
11. I quickly added zombies to my cart,
12. And right before the checkout step, I see…
13. It’s Zazzle Black!  A two-day shipping spree.
14. I love this site, this place!  I amor Zazzle!

This is the tale
of Big John the whale,
who wanted to dazzle,
so he surfed to Zazzle,
and made a store,
with great modern decor,
and never had to work anymore.

In the end, there can be only one. Below is the picture of Zazzle’s new poet laureate enjoying the game (before the Niners lost that is…) and her amazing Zazzle poem.

Tick-tock, tick-tock…
Gotta get over this writer’s block…
An hour to do it…not gonna get frazzled;
Gonna open my mind….gonna let it get Zazzled!
Building a company, a future, so bright
From the first crack of dawn to the wee hours of night;
Creating…collaborating….an unstoppable wheel
Moving forward, we produce what we dream, think, and feel.
Artsprojekt, Rickshaw, MoJo to name a few;
Partnerships growing…and the product line too.
Endless possibilities as sharp minds work together
To create something amazing that can only get better.

Visionaries, dreamers, artists galore;
Masterpieces sold through each Zazzle store;
From designing to selling….an artistic trek;
Achievement..accomplishment…a royalty check.

Boy wants a T-shirt
With an edgy design
Girl wants a canvas
With colors sublime;
Together they search
And together they find
That Zazzle can give them
What they both had in mind.

An experience unforgettable…
A company unparalleled….
Tick-tock, tick-tock.
I think I got over this writer’s block…
An hour almost up…I didn’t get frazzled;
I opened my mind, and my mind… it got Zazzled!
– Shelly

Zazzle Featured Seller Interview with amytothegrace

January 26, 2012

New Zazzler Amy, from the Zazzle store amytothegrace, talks with us about her inspirations for her vector art and what she’s looking forward to on Zazzle.  Check out the interview below and don’t forget to check out her store amytothegrace!

Keep It Fresh iPad Case

Zazzle: First off, tell us a little bit about yourself.

Amy: I come from a very artistic family, so I grew up in love with the arts and a natural sense of creativity.  During High School I transitioned from pencils and crayons to graphic design, after accidentally discovering I had a kind of knack for it.  I’ve now been doing this gig freelance for 7 years, specializing mainly in branding businesses. Websites, logos, business cards, and brochures have been the bulk of my work until recently when I decided to expand my art and open a Zazzle store!

Zazzle: A lot of your work seems to be more vector art, when did you start illustrating? Are there other styles of art you enjoy creating as well?

Amy: I’ve dabbled lightly in digital illustration for the past few years – mainly in logo work for clients. It wasn’t until last spring that I really started to play with creating people and animals. I’ve had so much fun! I enjoy traditional art with colored pencils, pastels, and paints as well…but rarely use them these days. I think digital illustration wins over because it’s so easy to correct my mistakes!

Zazzle: What is your inspiration for your designs??

Amy:  Inspiration is a funny thing…because most of the time it comes out of nowhere. I find the best ideas are like that. Sometimes all it takes is a good mood and a thirst to create. In fact I think all of my designs ultimately come down to a good mood…whether it’s because of a song I’ve heard, or a funny joke from a friend or movie. So maybe it would suffice to say that simple light heartedness is the greatest inspiration…in whatever form it may take.

Zazzle: Any artists you look up to when it comes to designing?

Amy:  Sam Spratt – his imagination and attention to detail never ceases to amaze me.

Zazzle: Who is your favorite Zazzle seller (besides yourself, of course)?

Amy:  I’ve yet to really explore the Zazzle community, but of the handful of stores I’ve seen, I really admire 3ddevine’s work.

Zazzle: What has been your favorite design you’ve created, and why?

Amy: Hmm…I’d say it’s a tossup between my Egyptian 80’s chick, and my arguing Shampoo and Conditioner bottles – both of which were equally fun to make. The Egyptian design stemmed from my ongoing interest in Ancient Egypt, and what I really love about it is the unexpected and humorous combination of Ancient Egypt and the 1980’s. I had seen other designs with Egyptian Pharaoh’s in sunglasses before, but never with an 80’s flare. I really love how it turned out.

Shampoo vs Conditioner T-Shirt

Zazzle: How do you eat a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup?

Amy: As a vegan, I don’t! LOL

Zazzle: Being a newer seller on Zazzle, what are you looking forward to the most?

Amy: Continued play with new products, ideas and opportunities to spread my work.

Zazzle: What got you interested in selling your art on Zazzle?

Amy: I initially started looking into online stores for the freedom to create what I wanted, when I wanted, and just have people buy and enjoy. Isn’t that the dream of all artists? 😀 After much research, Zazzle lured me in with their wide variety of products, easy-to-use tools, ability for a fully customized storefront, and most important – good product quality.  Haven’t looked back!

Zazzle: What tips can you give someone who is just starting out on Zazzle?

Amy: Not sure I’m equipped for tips since I’m still fairly new to the game…but here’s what I’ve found effective so far:

Move one step at a time…never rush through a design, or create products just for the sake of having more products. Present only your very best.

Do your research. I hung out in the forum for a good while when I first started; figuring out how to best customize my storefront and getting tips from ProSellers. You must be willing to learn about what it takes to succeed…and invest your time in doing so.

Enjoy yourself…especially when creating a new design. It really shows through your work.

Thanks Amy!

Zazzle Politics – Presidential Candidate Update

January 25, 2012

Debates, primaries, caucuses, and campaign ads – phew, January has been full of politics driven headlines indicating the 2012 Presidential Election is fast approaching! With Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, and Jon Huntsman dropping out, the race for the GOP presidential nomination is down to four.

2012 Presidential Candidate Sales

Currently dominating our bestsellers list, Ron Paul maintains the lead in overall sales. His supporters show that even with his recent 4th place finish in the South Carolina primary, his support is still strong and should not be ignored!

President Obama trails next in 2nd place. The graph does not, however, attribute to his overall favorability. With Anti-Obama products highly popular, this is something significant to note.

Although making headlines for his South Carolina win, Newt Gingrich has had the least sales out of the all the current GOP nominees. But don’t count him out just yet, his aggressive debate style has helped increase his sales this past week.

Rick Santorum, while demonstrating strength in recent debates, still shows minimal sales, only slightly higher than Newt Gingrich.

Last, but not least, Mitt Romney. His product sales and search stats may be increasing, but he’s still a long ways behind his opponents Ron Paul and President Obama.

Here at Zazzle, we hope to be at the forefront of the political conversation in the e-commerce world of customization. Whether you’re supporting (or disdaining) certain stances and figures we encourage your creative expression. Postage Rate Increase: Thoughts on Custom Postage and Special Mailings

January 24, 2012

Last Sunday’s postage rate increase ($0.45 postage sheets now available on Zazzle) got me thinking about postage, letters, and the joy of opening mail. Like everyone else, I don’t like junk mail (alright, I do like tearing it up, awesome workout), but I love letters and cards from my friends and family. There’s something magical about opening a personal letter or card. Maybe it’s the extra time that someone takes to write a nice thank you card, birthday card, or congratulations card or maybe it’s just the smell of paper and ink that gets me going. Whatever it is, I always read letters from family (which is definitely not true for email). So what does this have to do with postage? In these times of increasingly impersonal communication, I think we should take the time to make our communications extra personal and custom postage is the perfect way to do this. With custom postage you can add a photo from a shared trip or just a favorite inside joke that will be loved by the receiver (empirical studies have shown that smiles increase 200% with custom postage mailings). So instead of impersonalizing your mailings, I say it’s time to personalize! Let’s send some love to our loved ones; because in the end, the real forever postage is that memory on custom postage that they save forever.

Who’s with me! What letters are you going to send to your loved ones?

New Custom Liberty Bottleworks Water Bottles on Zazzle

January 23, 2012

Hot on the heels of the launch of Rickshaw Bagworks products on Zazzle, we’ve launched another ecologically focused American-made product on Zazzle: Custom Aluminum Water Bottles! Featured in 13 fun colors and two sizes, these 100% recycled aluminum water bottles are a great way to show off photos and designs while helping to keep down the disposable plastic water bottle population (they breed like rabbits). But, what I really love is that these are not just great CUSTOM bottles, they are great water bottles thanks to the small details that Liberty and Zazzle took to create this product. 100% BPA free was just the start. These bottles are the only metal water bottle that exceeds the FDA standards for non-leaching products, they have an easy quarter turn open/close cap (helpful for one handed opening), and they have a tapered neck for smooth/splash free drinking. These design elements make this a great gift that can easily integrate into anybody’s home or work life. See below for some hot new designs from Zazzle Sellers or start creating your own custom water bottle now!

Zazzle Featured Seller Interview with LizaPhoenix

January 19, 2012

New Zazzler Lizabeth, from the Zazzle store LizaPhoenix, talks with us about her style and what she’s looking forward to on Zazzle.  Check out the interview below and don’t forget to check out her store LizaPhoenix!

Cute Ice Cream with Mustache Case

Zazzle: Give us a brief bio, where you’re from and when you started making art.

Lizabeth: My name is Liza Phoenix, I’m from Seattle, Washington and I’ve worked as a professional craftsperson/designer for many years. I’ve done hand painted t-shirts, hand carved sculpture, beads, art prints, and posters.

Zazzle: What is your inspiration for your designs?

Lizabeth: Love, happiness, sweets, treats, magic, and rainbows.

Zazzle: When you’re not creating art, what are your other hobbies?

Lizabeth:  I compile images and information about legendary creatures and fabulous beasts, and I maintain a subject guide to art history.

Zazzle: What’s your favorite style to create?

Lizabeth:  Kawaii! A style that originated in Japan around the 1970s and emphasizes the cuteness of objects to the extreme and then a little bit beyond that.

Zazzle: How many hours do you typically spend working on your Zazzle store?

Lizabeth:  In my mind I work all day and all night on my Zazzle store and my other websites and projects, but in reality it’s probably only about 8 hours a day.

Zazzle: What has been your favorite design you’ve created, and why?

Lizabeth: My favorites are usually my latest, but maybe some of my all-time favorites are “Pink Albino Narwhal” and “Super Rainbow Space Cake”. Why? Cute! (I hope!)

Kawaii Albino Narwhal Sticker

Zazzle: If Hollywood made a movie about your life, who would you like to see play you?

Lizabeth: Ha ha, Cameron Diaz, but she would need to gain 20 pounds and wear a wig.

Zazzle: Being a newer seller on Zazzle, what are you looking forward to the most?

Lizabeth: Making more money! Also, I have one million ideas that I’m anxious to get out of my mind and onto Zazzle products.

Zazzle: What got you interested in selling your art on Zazzle?

Lizabeth: I was with another POD company and the members there spoke so highly of Zazzle that I decided to give it a try.

Zazzle: What tips can you give someone who is just starting out on Zazzle?

Lizabeth: Put forth a great effort over a long period of time with a confident expectation of success. (Get back to me in a year or two and I’ll let you know if this actually works.)

Thanks Lizabeth!
